Janice Flynn

Janice has been working in the field of US visa and nationality law for more than 25 years both in her native Chicago and the United Kingdom. In 2023 Who’s Who Legal recognised her as a Thought Leader in Corporate Immigration Law.

Janice has been working in the field of US visa and nationality law for more than 25 years both in her native Chicago and the United Kingdom. In 2023 Who’s Who Legal recognised her as a Thought Leader in Corporate Immigration Law.

Janice regularly advises individuals and multinational companies on their overall U.S. visa strategy. She has a particular expertise with E-1 Treaty Trader and E-2 Treaty Investor, H-1B Professional Worker, L-1 Intra-Company Transferee and Employment-Based Immigrant visa categories. Her experience encompasses a wide range of US visa and nationality matters, including family-based visas in addition to employment-based visas and US nationality issues including the acquisition and loss of US citizenship with focuses on consular processing, maintaining Lawful Permanent Residency (aka “green card”) status and US entry and boarding issues at US ports of entry and Pre-Clearance locations and airports across the globe.

Janice is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) holding leadership positions of. She has been a member of AILA’s National Customs and Border Protection Liaison committee for several years and is the current Chair of AILA’s Rome District Chapter’s Government committee and a previous Chair of the Rome District Chapter’s Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Alliance of Business Immigration Lawyers (ABIL), a global alliance of business immigration lawyers.

She graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly The John Marshall Law School) in 2003 and admitted to the Illinois state bar. Prior to earning her law degree, she was awarded a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her junior year of university at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Janice is a former Trustee and current Ambassador for icap (Immigrant Counselling & Psychotherapy) which is a registered British charity providing high-quality counselling and psychotherapy principally to Irish immigrants in the United Kingdom.

Janice is a native Chicagoan who is a dual US and Irish citizen living and has been working in the UK since 2005. She lives near London with her husband and their dogs, Daisy and Rosie, and enjoys going for long walks in the countryside. She is trying to improve her Spanish and she tries to keep fit with Pilates and running.

Since 1994, Mrs. Hodkinson has exclusively practiced U.S. immigration law in London.

Mrs. Hodkinson exclusively practiced U.S. immigration law in London from 1994 until her recent retirement on 30th June 2023. She represented a broad range of corporate and individual clients in connection with temporary (non-immigrant) visas and both employment and family-based permanent (immigrant) visa petitions.

She also provided advice relating to complex issues of waivers on grounds of inadmissibility, maintenance, and abandonment of permanent resident status, and renunciation (expatriation) of U.S. citizenship.

She handles applications for family and employment based permanent residency, as well as a range of non-immigrant options such as E-1 traders, E-2 investors, H-1B specialty occupations, L-1 intra-company transferees, and O-1s of extraordinary ability. She also handles complex acquisition of citizenship matters and inadmissibility issues.

Rikki is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is also a member of the New York State Bar Association.

 

In 2017, Rikki was admitted to the New York bar after graduating summa cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law where she also received a Certificate in International Law. She then went on to earn her LLM (Master of Laws) in Human Rights from UCL in London. Prior to law school, she graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in International Studies. Rikki moved to the UK in 2016 and lives in South London with her wife, two children, and their rambunctious staffie-cross.

Catherine Betancourt

Catherine is an enthusiastic lawyer, originally from Puerto Rico and native Spanish speaker, who moved to the UK in the autumn of 2017 where she lives with her partner.

Catherine is an enthusiastic lawyer, originally from Puerto Rico and native Spanish speaker, who moved to the UK in the autumn of 2017 where she lives with her partner.

Catherine joined Flynn Hodkinson in September 2018 and has a wide range of experience in immigration law and assists a variety of clients from individual to corporate clients. Her primary focus is consular processing of both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas at US Embassies and Consulates worldwide. She primarily manages employment-based visas and has a deep understanding of treaty-based visas, including E-1 Treaty Trader and E-2 Treaty Investor visas for individuals who wish to invest in a business in the United States and for businesses with existing US clients and substantial international trade. Catherine also manages complex family-based cases, including the filing of exceptional circumstances petitions and immigrant visa applications directly with US consular posts abroad.

In addition to assisting individuals who need visas to move to or work in the United States, she is also experienced with the law relating to loss and renunciation of US citizenship and its US immigration consequences, along with processes for renouncing citizenship at various US consular posts throughout the world.

She has lived all over the world, including in China, various states in the US, and now the United Kingdom. Catherine is an avid traveler, who also loves to bake and dance in her spare time.

Originally from France and Vietnam and grew up in the United States, Laura joined Flynn Hodkinson as an Associate Lawyer in May 2023. She focuses her practice on employment-based work visas such as the E-2 Treaty Investor, E-1 Treaty Trader, L-1 Intra-Company Transferee and O-1 Extraordinary Ability categories and also family-based and consular processing cases.

Originally from France and Vietnam and grew up in the United States, Laura joined Flynn Hodkinson as an Associate Lawyer in May 2023. Prior to moving to the UK, Laura handled a wide range of employment, family, and humanitarian-based immigration matters at a boutique immigration law firm based in her hometown of Washington, DC. She has also volunteered to assist individuals at the US-Mexico border in drafting their asylum applications and preparing for their hearings. Laura completed her Juris Doctor at The University of Sydney Law School in Sydney, Australia in 2019 and was admitted to the New York bar in 2020. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 2016.

Sharon Noble has exclusively practiced U.S. immigration law since 1996, concentrating on business-related immigration matters with an emphasis on both non-immigrant visa petitions for corporate employees, individual investors and entrepreneurs as well as employment based immigrant petitions, extraordinary ability petitions and outstanding researcher petitions. Ms. Noble worked with Ms. Hodkinson in London for seven years before returning to the United States in 2003. Ms. Noble served as Of Counsel to Hodkinson Law Group until 2021 and is now Of Counsel to Flynn Hodkinson, working remotely from Washington. Prior to 1996, Ms. Noble practiced corporate real estate and health care law in Los Angeles. With Ms. Noble’s prior corporate experience, she possesses a strong business background and exceptional writing skills, both of which have proven invaluable to her immigration practice.

She began her career with our firm after completing her Legal Secretary Diploma in Kent.

As a Paralegal, Rebekah is a key part of our firm’s success as she ensures effective management of the office continuing to give our clients a personalized experience while our firm has grown. Over the last two years, she has specialized in her greatest area of interest – family-based immigration petitions. However, whether Rebekah is working with a large company or on a family-based petition, she skilfully drafts applications with great attention to detail. Rebekah is also responsible for scheduling Embassy appointments and communicating with the Embassy when necessary.

When she is not at work, Rebekah enjoys spending time with her son and her dogs. She is an enthusiastic equestrian, and regularly partakes in Show Jumping competitions at the weekends. She has a love of the great outdoors and spends as much time outside as possible.

Beatriz Del Sasso

Beatriz joined Flynn Hodkinson in April 2024 as a Client Support Assistant. She is originally from Brazil and speaks fluent Portuguese. She graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a BA (Hons) International Relations degree in 2019 before obtaining her master’s degree in Law at the University of Law. Prior to joining the firm, Beatriz worked in various charities before working as an Administrator and then as a Paralegal within the legal sector.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Grace moved to the UK in September 2023 to pursue a masters in Comparative Literature at University College London. Prior to moving to the UK, Grace was a Paralegal and Legal Assistant at a boutique family and matrimonial law firm in New York, New York.

While at Georgetown, Grace interned and worked for a variety of organizations including the Smithsonian Institution, the Office of Congressman Adam Schiff, and the Georgetown University Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In her free time, Grace enjoys cooking, reading, and watching film.

Alice joined Flynn Hodkinson in January 2022 as Office Manager. Alice began her professional career in 2012 as an accounting assistant and completed her Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification in 2015. In 2016 she moved to the United Arab Emirates where she worked as an Executive Assistant. She moved back to London in 2018 and has since enjoyed working as an Office Manager within the Law sector. 

In her spare time, Alice enjoys bootcamp and Pilates, cooking for her family and travelling.
