Alert: Proclamation—Suspension of Entry as Immigrants & Nonimmigrants of Certain Additional Persons Who Pose a Risk of Transmitting 2019 Novel Coronavirus

On 11 March 2020, President Trump signed a Presidential Proclamation Coronavirus, which suspends the entry into the US of all non-US citizens and non-US permanent residents (aka “green card holders”) who have been in any of the Schengen Area countries listed below at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States.

List of Schengen Area countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

If you are outside of the US, are traveling to the US on a flight scheduled to depart after 11:59pm Eastern Daylight Time on 13 March 2020 and you have been to one of the Schengen Area countries during the past 14 days, you will be unable to board your flight or will not be admitted to the US. This proclamation does not apply to persons aboard a flight scheduled to arrive in the United States that departed prior to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on March 13, 2020.

The Proclamation does not apply to:

  • US citizens,
  • lawful permanent residents and
  • certain family members of US citizens and lawful permanent resident, and other narrow categories of non-immigrant visa holders (e.g. air/sea crew or government and international organization officials).
