15 Feb USCIS Expands Credit Card Payment Option for Fees
The US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) which processes visa petition and applications under the US Department of Homeland Security, issued an announcement yesterday, February 14, 2018, that it will now accept credit card payments for filing most of its forms. The new payment option will be available to 41 fee-based forms that are processed at USCIS Lockbox facilities and it will accept payments via Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Payment will be made using Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transaction which is found on the USCIS.gov website. The USCIS will enter credit card data in the Pay.gov system, operated by the US Department of Treasury, and then will destroy the Form G-1450 to protect the credit card information.
The list of forms does not include the I-129 Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker so unfortunately, petitioners using this form will still need to pay with a US check drawn from a US bank account but this new development is a welcome advancement into modern times for the USCIS and hopefully will make processing of visa petitions and applications more efficient.
