USCIS International Field Offices Set to Close Early 2020

USCIS International Field Offices Set to Close Early 2020

The USCIS is set to close its international field offices early next year based information we have received from the USCIS London Field Office. The international field offices are housed outside the US within the US Department of State Embassies and Consulates.

The London USCIS Field Office currently provides a variety of services including but not limited to, the adjudication of Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative, collection of Re-Entry Permits, Transportation Letters, and filing the Form I-407 Record of Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Residency. The USCIS international field offices provide a great benefit to US citizens who reside outside the US and members of the US military and military family members.

Currently there is no set time frame for the closure of the international offices and, for the time being, it will be business as usual. Therefore applications and petitions may continue to be submitted, although the office will no longer provide routine in-person appointments to file the I-407 form mainly so the USCIS London field office can focus on adjudicating I-130 Petitions. The USCIS London field office generally receives and processes more than 200 I-407’s each month, the majority of which are received by post.  However, if someone has an urgent reason to file the I-407 in person, due to urgent travel or other situation, we will certainly accommodate an appointment. Normally on Tuesday and Thursday at 1100 when we also see individuals for transportation letters.
